Self closing script tags are perfectly valid XHTML elements, but invalid HTML elements. Internet Explorer only supports XHTML to the extent that only HTML-compatible markup is possible. All other major browsers support XHTML markup.</p> <p>The below example shows how this can be detected when script tags have been placed within the head element of a HTML page.</p> <p><a href="http://www.dannylister.co.uk/SelfClosingScriptTagsinInternetExplorer_CFD1/image.png"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="73" alt="image" src="http://www.dannylister.co.uk/SelfClosingScriptTagsinInternetExplorer_CFD1/image_thumb.png" width="535" border="0" /></a> </p> <p>For the above, the 'NavTo' function would never be known to the body or other JavaScript files. In order for subsequent JavaScript files or code to be executed, the script tag of the offending element must be correctly formatted according to HTML markup standards. This will allow all browsers including Internet Explorer to successfully execute all JavaScript.</p> <p><a href="http://www.dannylister.co.uk/SelfClosingScriptTagsinInternetExplorer_CFD1/image_3.png"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="70" alt="image" src="http://www.dannylister.co.uk/SelfClosingScriptTagsinInternetExplorer_CFD1/image_thumb_3.png" width="534" border="0" /></a></p>File Manager and Missing Thumbnails/blogs/Danny-Lister/Dates/2009/8/File-Manager-and-Missing-Thumbnails/2009-08-21T12:25:06.5500000Z<p>Recently I encountered a problem whereby viewing thumbnails for images within EPiServer's file manager would not render correctly. </p> <p><a href="/link/1cebbace4de74369a1c4f8dd8c4a0f2e.png"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="175" alt="image" src="/link/dd39e2c1c770453f8db4250e8f5889cd.png" width="423" border="0" /></a> </p> <p>After much investigation as to why this problem occurred, I found that the issue was due to incorrect permissions on the '/util/temp/thumbcache/' folder within the site's application folder.</p> <p>In order to correct the problem, 'IIS_WPG' needs to have modify and write permissions on the said folder. To grant modify permissions, right click on the thumbcache folder, select properties and navigate to the security tab. Here you will be able to add IIS_WPG to your permissions list and select modify rights for that group. </p> <p><a href="/link/298bda4237674399957ae6c23f714932.png"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="478" alt="image" src="/link/2b4df85f2b984b1ea1d699e6b0641a40.png" width="370" border="0" /></a></p>
