Hi Per,
I thought so too but that solution is for validating and maipulating url segments when you create new content.
I discussed it with Johan in this post http://world.episerver.com/forum/developer-forum/-Episerver-75-CMS/Thread-Container/2017/6/how-does-charactermap-in-urlsegmentoptions-work/

It seems I got things wrong. EPi do allow åäö but the 404 handeler only accept html encoded urls så a "å" is "%c3%a5". But "/" should not be encoded.
Hi,
We are building a new site and the old one uses the characters å, ä and ö in the url´s. We whant to use the third party gadget '404 handeler' to redirect the old urls to the new site. But it seems like EPi doesn't allow åäö for incomming urls out of the box so thay never arive to the 404 handeler gadget for redirection.
How do we config EPi to allow å, ä and ö in the urls?
Best Regards
Jesper
