Store product and category information in variation object in Find?

Hi!

What is the best way to store product and category information on a variation in Find?

I have found this that describes how to do it for a product:
https://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Developers-Guide/Episerver-Commerce/9/Search/find-integration/indexing-variations-in-a-product-document/

But I would like to add fields for the variation but I can't find any "ApplyVariationContentConventions"?
Should I maybe add properties to my variation class like TopCategory {get;} SubCategory{get;} ProductName{get;} and so on?

We show variations in our search result so I guess the best for us is to only index the variations but to be sure that we have all we need in the stored object.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
