When you request the content of a page through the api and a shortcut has been added to that page to another page, not the content of the page from the shortcut is returned, but a "mashup" of the content of the content requested, with some properties of the "shortcutted" content. In the previous version of the api, the content of the "shortcutted" content was returned.
