Renaming form element doesn't update existing placeholders

Hi!
We've experienced an issue where editors have renamed a form element (in this case email element). The placeholder name is correctly updated in the placeholder dropdown but since there doesn't seem to be any relationship between an already existing placeholder and the placeholder list it will cause issues when trying to replace the placeholder with the real value.

[there should be an image here showing the issue, but I'm not allowed to add one without being partner...]

Is this a bug, feature or something we've done wrong? also, is there a recommended approach to make sure that this issue doesn't occur?

We're currently using version 4.9.0 of forms but I haven't found any mentions of this in the release notes for later versions.

Existing placeholders are unable to replace, they are in your content and if you rename an element you need update your content (with placeholders) manually.
