Duplicated properties when changing type

Hello all,

We have a problem where we get duplicates of properties in edit mode when we change the type of the property in the model.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

We changed it from (Episerver) Url to (ImageVault.Episerver) MediaReference in code.

I'm not sure how ImageVault is serializing the property value, but I guess they're not similar. There are some rules you need to follow, see this article: Refactoring Content Type Classes (under Changing the Type of a Property).
