Allowed block types in content area

Hi all,

Is there a way to specify what types of blocks are allowed/disallowed for a content area (and/or vice verca, for a block to only be available for content areas on a certain page type)?

One solution would be to use tags, but this will not give the user any hint that the block doesn't suit the page type, so it's not what I want.

Any other suggestions?
