Basic Mirroring Setup

Vote:

Hi,

I want to do some basic mirroring testing.

I am planning on installing 2 sites locally to test this, but have some questiosn regarding setup.

Currently, I have installed the first site, http://mirroringsource.local, for which I included the mirroring service.

Question 1:

When I install the 2nd site (to be http://mirroringtarget.local), should I include the mirroring service?

From there, I am just a bit confused on how I should be setting up the end points etc.

Yes, the easiest setup is to include the mirroring service for the second site as well (technically you could use the same mirroring service for the sites but that would require more manual configuration).

Then after installation to set up mirroring you go into admin mode and select "Mirroring" (on Config tab) on the site that is to be source site. In the field URI you type in the endpoint to the mirroringservice for the target site. Should be like:

http://<targetmirroringservicehost>/MirroringTransferServer.svc

After configured that endpoint together with basic settings like Start page etc. then you should be good to go.
