Native vs Versioning during migration

Hello,
We are working with the migration of a website(EPiServer CMS 4.61 to EPiServer CMS 6 R2), the size of the upload folder is almost 6 Gb. We want to have the same file structure NativeFileSystem instead of going for VirtualPathVersioningProvider and just wondering if there are any drawbacks for using the native provider or not?
