By installation the following blogtypes are used :

  • UserBlog
  • UserGuestbook
  • ClubMessage
  • ExpertBlog
  • General

Is there a way to add custom types to BlogTypes?

Not answering your question directly, but I suggest using custom attributes or categories to further segment the blogs.
