DOPE disabled when extending TemplatePage

We have used and extended the implementation of XHTMLTemplatePage that Linus E. from EP did, but in doing so we noticed that the DOPE editor has gone missing. Is there anyone who knows what part/method is used? do we need to implement/not override a certain method?

Never mind, I found the error, seems that someone had commented base.OnPreRender(e).
