XForm select control events & the XForm button

Hi all, I would like to know what is the equivalent event for the dropdownlists 'selectedindexChanged' on the XForm select control. I know there is a 'valuechanged' event, but it doesn't really do anything when I select an item in the select control. Also, how do I disable the button on an xform? Many thanks
