user forced to login

i have some users that are prompted to login when accessing the startpage of our intranet, when they login with thier AD-credentials it works fine, but they have to login the next time as well. we have about 700 users, and this happens only to these three.
any hints?

If you're using forms auth, could it be cookie settings? Not allowing the cookie to be stored would require a new login.

We have this problem too, sometimes our users get prompted for credentials. If you just restart IE and try to access the intranet-page again it often works. So this problem doesn't happen all the time, often it takes a long time before the user gets prompted for credentials the intranet site just loads and loads. Like if it times out and then the prompt appears.
