On-page editing not working after upgrade

Vote:

I am working on a site that has been upgraded from 4.5 to 6 R2.

I can edit the pages normally in edit mode and quick edit works just fine as well but selecting on-page edit results in an episerver bar at the top of the page only containing a (disabled) publish button and a cancel button.

To the best of my knowlegde the permissions are correct: The current user has full rights to the page.

The issue is the same in both IE and FF, and both remote and local.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I recently found the solution to my problem, and it was horribly simple. The developers of the original EPi 4 site had disabled viewstate on the web forms. As soon as wiewstate was enabled again, everything worked like a charm
