EPiServer MobileCenter - Our First iPhone App for Web Marketers and Editors

MobileCenter is EPiServer’s first iPhone/iPad app for web marketers and editors to gain control over their online presence. Basically MobileCenter is a mobile version of EPiServer OnlineCenter, making your specific and personal gadgets available in a mobile interface.

In the sample package from EPiServer there are MobileCenter gadgets that allow to, for example, publish news articles with images, track recently changed pages, etc. To use the full potential of MobileCenter you can also add your own gadgets, adapted to your website and business needs.

MobileCenter supplies value for customers by giving site owners access to business and site-specific information and functionality in the iPhone/iPad, while the flexible architecture allows implementation partners to create new gadgets tailored to the customer's business needs and make them available in the iPhone/iPad from OnlineCenter in CMS 6. MobileCenter is not targeted to the visitors on your website - this is a tool for your editors, marketers or anyone in your organization who needs mobile access to the gadgets in OnlineCenter.

Works with EPiServer CMS 6

The app works with all versions of EPiServer CMS 6, so if you want to empower your online presence and your website is based on EPiServer CMS 5 or 4, now might be the time to think about upgrading. All you need to get started is to install the MobileCenter module and then choose the gadgets you want to be available in the iPhone. Anyone downloading the MobileCenter app to the iPhone will also have direct access to a demo site hosted by EPiServer to try the functionality.

One of the best things about the MobileCenter iPhone app and the software for EPiServer CMS 6 website is that its all free! The iPhone App is available through Apple's App Store and the MobileCenter module for your website is downloaded from our open source project on Codeplex. (Note that the app is targeted only to EPiServer CMS 6 customers and will require a commercial site/license to have any meaningful usage.)

Android is high up on our wish list, but no release dates set yet. We started with the iPhone to reach more of the marketers and editors which we believe are using iPhone rather than Android right now, but that might change soon.
