The new Enoteca sample site for EPiServer Commerce has been released. This can be used instead of the current "Click and Talk" website as a sample and demonstration site.
The new solution has been completely redeveloped and the front end is built using HTML5. You can use this solution to investigate and learn the best practices for developing an e-commerce website on EPiServer Commerce.
Enoteca is a fully functional B2C and B2B e-commerce solution for a mid-size retailer. It allows the demonstration of new features, including:
We will host a new demo site under the EPiServer.com domain soon. We will also be releasing further documentation and demonstration scenarios to help you understand how to show the new features.
The fictional company "Enoteca" is a national UK wine retailer with 50-100 physical retail stores. They sell good quality and fine wines. They have a loyal following of customers who vary from households buying a couple of bottles or a mixed case every few months to affluent connoisseurs who use the company to replenish their wine cellar on a regular basis. They use promotions with targeted banners throughout the site to encourage purchase of their value wines.
Businesses are also an important part of Enoteca's customer base. This includes restaurants using them as their wine supplier and corporate businesses buying wine as gifts for their most important customers.
Company Accounts - To create a company admin user, assign a user as the Primary Contact in an Organization.
Expert Reviews - Enoteca employees will want their reviews to stand out on the site as 'Expert Reviews'. To enable this, find the user in the Commerce Manager and add the 'Expert' role.
Download and install the site, and have look around. Please send me any feedback you have on the sample site, including ideas for future releases.
Hi David,
I've tried to install this and got as far as installing the EPiServer Commerce module where I get an error:
"Process C:\ECF6943682239\setup.exe exited with errorcode -1: Could not find any version of SQL Server Native Client installed."
I've checked the server and as far as I can tell SQL Server Native Client is installed. I have SQL 2005 on this server is there a dependency on SQL 2008. Is this error masking something else?
Any thoughts appreciated,
Mark
Hi Mark, you've probably found your own answer to this by now: but anyway: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1 64 bit is required as is documented here: http://world.episerver.com/Documentation/Items/System-Requirements/EPiServer-Commerce/System-Requirements---EPiServer-Commerce-1-R2-1/

Hi David, when do you expect to have the Enoteca site available as an EPiServer demo site similar to the Click and Talk demo? Will Enoteca replace Click and Talk as the "official" demo, or will it be promoted as an alternative?
Paal Berggreen,

Hi Paal, Enoteca will replace Click+Talk in the next Service Pack for Commerce, which is due the end of Q1. The demo site will then also be replaced by Enoteca.

Great sample
Hi David,
Do you know if a new version of the Enoteca site will be made available which works with commerce R2 SP2? or could the installer be made to work with SP2 of commerce?
I'm just getting started with commerce in EPiServer and wrongly assumed I could just download the latest version to work with the sample site (even though it does say in the pre-reqs you need SP1)
Thanks, Adam
Hi,
The Enoteca sample template for R2 SP2 is available at http://world.episerver.com/Download/Items/EPiServer-Commerce/EPiServer-Commerce-1-R2-SP2/EPiServer-Commerce-1-R2-SP2-Sample-Templates/
Best regards,
Jonas
Where can I find the R3 version of this?
