Redirect from a block type

I have a block (created from a block type) on my page which is created from a pagetype, and there is a Submit button in the block type. When user clicks on the submit button, I want to redirect user to a different page (url) on the website. when i use RedirectToAction or Redirect I get this error.
"child actions are not allowed to perform redirect actions." any body came accross this error.
