If a visitor decides to copy a link from the search result - does it have to be "decorated" with tracking info?


We have enabled tracking on our website, and it works as expected. Tracking info is visible as querystring in the search result, but is removed when the user click on the link. 

For a little group of our users, the automatic inclusion of "tracking data" in the search result URL's is causing problems.

These users wants to copy the links from the search result, and when doing so, they will also copy the tracking querystring. 

Is this the expected, default behaviour of tracking?

Is there an alternative way to include tracking info in the links? Or do I have to implement manual tracking?

I have blogged about an another solution for this, where I do this manually and puts the id and type in a data attribute instead.

And I guess that this also confirms that the "default behaviour" of Find adding "tracking in querystring" is "by design"

Yes, that is the way they solve it and I do not think it will change since they need to add something that supports to be working without anything more than you adding the header and footer scripts

Yes, this is expected behaviour. I think click is also tracked when copied link is opened by other person. Does it causes any issues?
