Redirect after login

After logging on to EPiServer, users do not get redirected to the URL specified in the ReturnURL parameter. But if they retype the /edit then they get to the edit site without having to login again. Thus implying that their login the first time around was valid. This confuses the users as they assume that their initial login failed, and thus they keep trying to logon again and again. Has anybody had this problem too? Is there a work around? Any help is welcome. Thanking you in anticipation. Shahnaaz
