I am trying To migrate VPP folder for site in Version 8.1 ..

My episerverFraemwork is as below

What is your case with versions? Are you running 8.1 with VPP? Have you moved from previous versions? What was previous version where VPP was originally used?

As far as I understood - VPP migration is supported on 7.5 version. For instance in your case - in 8.0 now LanguageSelector is returned in get instance and not the interface.

Valdis this is correct. The VPP migration tool 7.5 only works for EPiServer CMS 7.5. Before upgrading from 7.5 to a newer version you need to migrate your VPP folders.

I have migrated mu site from 5.1 to 8.1 .. I had migrated from 5.1 to 7.5 before but there was some bug in 7.5 version which was fixed in 8 so I migrated

to 8 version .

I have to deploy this site on live now (currently its there except VPP) . So basically I need to migrate to 7.5 and then migrate the VPP and then migrate to 8.1 .

How do I deploy this on live ? This will take a long time for me . Do you have better way to put this on live server.

Know that this may sound more time consuming, but guess less risky. Is it possible to "freeze" changes in VPP, take copy of production, migrate that version and "hot-swap" production to that migrated version?

How long VPP migration takes for your site?

VPP Migration does not take much time 15 mins . I was planning to do in same way Migrate till 7.5 deploy on live and then migrate the VPP and then Update the database to 8.1 .

I have kept the each version copy with me (only code) .

Hello! I'm running the Migration Tool on 7.19.2 (EPiServer 7.5 - update 51, Jan 26 2015) and get these errors too:

VirtualPathProvider named 'SiteGlobalFiles' had failures during conversion and is leaved in site config
VirtualPathProvider named 'SiteDocuments' had failures during conversion and is leaved in site config

Do I need a specific version of 7.5 or is there something else that is preventing it from working?

If I look up this page in edit-mode, it has the name "SysSiteAssets", this is an instance of a page called "ClubPage" in the project, if I look at the production-site it has its proper name. Apart from the name it seems to have all its data equal as in production. There are several other instances of "ClubPage" that has not been affected like this.

How come that this particular page has been treated like "SysSiteAssets"?

I also notcied another day that I don't have any "For this site"-folder in the "add block/media pane", it is instead called "SysSiteAssets", just like this page. And that I'm not allowed to add any media to it. I guess there is a connection here, and that this proplem occured before running the "Migration Tool".

Does this mean that it thinks that this particular page is my content folder? How do I resolve this?

Hi Tobias,

The VPP Migration tool is only compatible with sites running on 7.5, not 7.19.2. So before you go ahead and upgrade to any later versions, please run the migration tool.

Hi,

I have successfully migrated VPP from version 7.5 to 8. When I upgrade my solution from 8 to 11.13.2 the images gives 404 error and the media folder in EPiserver is empty.

And when I tried to use VPP tool for version 11.13.2 it gives error "Could not load type 'EPiServer.Web.Hosting.IHostingEnvironment' from assembly 'EPiServer.Framework, Version=11.13.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=8fe83dea738b45b7'.
