The name outside of Edit Mode should be the same as what was uploaded. Or am I misunderstanding you?

Hi Johan,

Actually I am talking about document/file/image uplaod funtionality of episerver file manager.

IE.g We uploaded any file by using file manager in any global asset folder. If we try to check it by using Windows Explorer, we can see that the name of file is encripted.

I would like to stop this encryption.

Thanks

Abhishek

Hi Johan,

I guess you are confused. Iam talking about the ASSET PANE (Media Block). In Edit Mode it showing proper file Name. But if we try to serach/look in to  that file by using windows explorer that file name is in ecrypted form. File is in App_data folder like this 49f96576ddd94815889b5a1a70e449ee.PNG

Thanks

Those names and folders are created to support file versioning and massive amounts of files and I don't think some ever has had the need to configure the provider to keep the original file names.

In the old VPP-versions of Episerver you could have non-versioning disk provider but I don't think there's a built-in equivalent now.

You can write your own Blob Provider where you control how and where the files are stored. Here's an open source example:

If you insert an image media/document/image to a editor property on a page you will see that it uses the original name if you look at the source.

The key for search engine crawling of files is that they are exposed as HTML links or in the site's sitemap.
