Implementing similar functionality like For This Site Folder

Hi,

I am trying to create widget and want to show external content but those contents are site specific. I know i cannot create sys content folder under start page so therefore, if i create folder under root page then how do i restrict content based on current site?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Create it under the SiteDefinition.Current.SiteAssetsRoot and make sure you have the Site specific assest checkbox checked in Admin > Manage Websites for the website
