Glenn,

I noticed you are in the U.S. in chicago.  The first thing you really need to know is what version of Mediachase commerce are you talking about.  If it is in the 5.2 series up the conversion should be relatively simple and straightforward depending on what level of customizations the customer has made.  if they have built around the framework, then this again would be very straightforward regardless of data types (Customer, Orders, Catalogs, Campaigns, Promotions etc..)

One of the primary differences is realy going to be in using the mediachase commerce built in cms versus the EPiServer 6/7 CMS - both of which work fine with mediachase commerce.

Of course getting the customer migrated over to EPiServer is really offering a super integrated experience between digital marketing and commerce which the former mediachase offering did not have the vast array of features available in ther EPiServer CMS.

EPiServer Expert Services is a super resource for this kind of thing in terms of advice and possible asistance and you can also probably contact someoone in the chi-town office to get to someone who can at least provide you some guidance.
