SDK for VB.Net

Hello,

I am new to EpiServer, however have installed the demo and played around with it. It meets the requirements that we as a company are looking for and therefore want to start development for prototype purposes.

However, we are a VB.Net house because of our staff's background being in VB, ASP etc. When we installed the EpiServer Visual Studio integration package, the project options are only available in C#. Does anyone know whether there is a VB.Net alternative, or indeed how hard it is to modify the default contents of the c# project so that it will be listed under the Visual Basic tab? We have no experience of modifying the .vbproj or .vstemplate files and therefore don't want to get in too deep if it is not possible?

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Al Higgs

Hi,

There are no prolem for you to use vb.net if you like to do that. But it is up to you, to make everything work with vb.net. But there could be some problems to get everything to work with vb.net instead of c#. If you are experienced with vb.net you could easily start working with c# instead and you will also be able to use our sample code and our modules that we releases in the future. For instance our new Relate+package is in C# so you will have to write your own community templates for episerver if you use vb.net.

About our templates in VS2008, they inherits from EPiServer.TemplatePage. If you would like to create your own template you just make sure you aspx-file inherits from EPiServer.TemplatePage and it will work.

A good idea if you are new to episerver cms is to attend our developer course and there shouldn't be any problem to understand even if you are used to vb.net instead of c#, because we are focusing on the episerver framework.

You can find our courses here: http://www.episerver.com/en/Education/

 Best Regards /Eric
