Vulnerability in EPiServer.Forms
We currently have a requirement for doing a mobile site. And considering that EPiServer has a MobilePack, I'm wondering if it's easy or worth to use it. Simplest solution will be to just create static HTML pages for the mobile website because we won't be having much content anyway.
The website we'll be doing will be probably similiar to the Alloy Tech demo site.
What are the pros and cons of the Mobile Pack? There will be a learning curve to this one for sure.
Is it worth it? Or would you rather create an independent mobile html site?
If the MobilePack is not used, what other options do we have?
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Why not go the responsive way? And optimize the current website.
I would also go with a responsive design over choosing mobilepack.
+1 for responsive design. A year ago when MobilePack came out, there was a real debate about having a dedicated mobile site as opposed to responsive design. Since then, responsive has emerged as the clear winner. I think MobilePack is neat, but more or less obsolete now, through no fault of its own. That's just the way the industry went.
A full responsive design might not always be the answer, sometimes it makes more sense to implement custom mobile templates. A few thing that i would put under the "cons" section of MobilePack: poor device detection, duplicate content structure, navigation that tries to simulate an iOS App.
If you decide to create custom mobile templates have a look at this:
If you decide to go for a full responsive design, you can use Epinova.Mobile.Core for device detection and hide/ optimize content serverside (not just client side with CSS and JS) to make the mobile experience even better.
And most important of all, check your website in Yslow and Google Pagespeed!
