Version Gadget like feature for Commerce Marketing

I have a situation where - i use Optmizely Marketing to create Campaigns and promotions .
now sometimes someone does some changes or publishes the expired campaigns or promotions to live state.

that has cuased lots of trouble and we did not had anything to track down the changes neither in the CMS or Databse.

Is there any way we can find out this by any chance or do we need to do a custom development for loggin the users details who is doing the changes.

Marketing content are not versioned, but you can still listen to IContentEvents.PublishedContent, then filter by type, and log it as you'd want

but why we don't have versioning for that area , is there any specific reasons .

It's been a long time so I can say I recall the decision. It could be at that point (2016-2018), versionless campaign/promotion is the simpler thing to do and there was not a requirement to make them versionable
