stores/contentversion 500 error when trying to publish

We have started getting an error in the cms when publishing.  The autosave is taking a very long to complete and getting a misleading error notification, to complicate things more the error log doesn't show a stack trace so I believe the error we are seeing is masking the actual error.

It occurs when dojo.js makes a call to the stores/contentversion, the response is a 500 error.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Is this development or production?

If you open your browser console, you can probably see more details of the error. what is it

It's in both development and production. All I can see in the console is the JS call to episerver/cms/stores/notifications end point fails first with a 500 error and then it just keeps polling episerver/cms/stores/contentversion which again returns a 500 error.

There have been no code/configuration changes and this only started happening on 18th July from what we can see in the logs.

Pretty sure the error that we are gettingis a bit of a red herring and it is masking the actiual error. We get that same error showing up in the logs but no other information!

I've been trying to work out what code runs at those end points and where that os making calls to, I'm guessing that is what is failing.

it seems your site is trying to call a 3rd service everytime it publishes. time to check your SiteAttention settings.

It seems the SiteAttention module is calling an endpoint that is no longer available! Uninstalling the SiteAttention package fixed the problem.
