Hello ZZ,
The advantages of moving to Optimizely DXP and ultimately the Azure platform is that you get a 99.99% SLA alone from Microsoft in terms of the hosting, you get load balancing and auto scaling when you need it and a certain amount of platform redundancy that you won't necessarily have in a self hosted system. The DXP platform and Azure itself is built and tested for security and systems are kept up to date without intervention.
DXP comes with Optimizely Search & Navigation and Cloudflare CDN which takes care of optimisation of images and serving modern image formats such as WebP or JPG or PNG etc without you having to code for browser support. Not to mention that the caching of Cloudflare enables your web server to focus on more important tasks instead of repetitive basic static and media asset delivery.
On top of that you also get Optimizely Support for the platform with dedicated professionals who understand the platform.
Thanks a lot for comprehensive input. Would it be a issue if we have integration to internal API.
Right now our website servers are on internal network and therfore can call internal API without any problem. This API is not accessible to outside world., or may be we have to change firrwall openings when we go cloud ?
It makes alot of sense to have Optimizely Support for the platform.
Regards
We've had a client use a VPN platform before for allowing a DXP hosted CMS to communicate with an internally self hosted API. You'd have to speak to Optimizely themselves to understand the logistics as that was something set up between Optimizely and our client at the time.
We are currently running EpiServer CMS ver. 11. We want to upgrade to CMS ver. 12, is it necessary to have content cloud ? because right now we have on premise DB.
What would be the advantage of having content cloud vs on premise DB ?
Any input would be appreciated.
