Using customdropdown as dynamic property

I'm using the new EditorDescriptor for creating a customdropdown for the editmode. All works as expected if I use this property on a specific pagetype, I can see my dropdown with my selected values, but can I somehow make this work as a dynamic property? Do I have to create my own "real" customproperty that inherits PropertyDropDownList for this to work or is there another way?
