PageTree evaluate all branches without expandall

I want to use PageTree to evaluate all the children of all the branches. using ExpandAll=true does this but has the side effect of the ExpandedItemTemplate being used, so i cannot tell what branch you are inside. Is there a way of evaluating all the children of all the children without expanding?

i worked this out myself by leaving expandAll on and checking manually if Container.CurrentPage existed as a one of the ParentLink's of CurrentPage
