Set expiry date on linkitemcollection

We would like to be able to set expiry date(startpublish/stoppublish) on a linkitemcollection to make links visible to end-users during specific time periods.

I have found this timecontrolledlinkcollection https://www.coderesort.com/p/epicode/wiki/TimeControlledLinkCollection, but it is for EPiServer 6 R2. Does anyone know if there is something similar for EPiServer 7?
