Archive pages using old URL

Vote:

When stoping the publishing of a page in EPiServer it is archived under an archive-page - the page is moved from its original place in the page structure to a new place (our webarchive). However, when this occurs the URL of the page is changed from /originalpage/pagename to /webbarchive/pagename.

Is it somehow possible to archive the page in the same way (by moving it), while still maintaining the old URL? We need the pages to be reachable on their old URL but still needs to collect the old pages in an archive.

Hi

There's no configuring that you can do to achive this. I guess you could write your own archiveing code that copy the original page to the archive and then set the "Link type" of the original page to a shortcut to the archived page. Another way might be to maintain a list of archived URLs and create your own URL-rewriter that checks for archived pages. Google "episerver urlrewrite" and you'll find a lot of sample code...
