Dope - change save and publish to save only

My content editors (love the dope :):) im sure of that) and use it alot but they need the save and continue to check
the changes before publishing. i thought about getting the dope user control copy the ascx and use my class drives from the orignal class
and change the post back button to an save without publishing and redirect to the correct page +version.
also i will add an save and continue.
But wanted to ask if there is an easy soultion or using adapter or something like thats ?

i was asked if we can change the save and publish in dope ( direct edit on page) to save only so they can change
the content change it and then publish
i can add a new button to the menu call save and try getting all the code of the save and publish ( and change the publosh flag)
??
