EPiServer CMS 6 R2 - 301 Redirects

Vote:

Hello there,

I had posted this question in the CMS 5 forum (http://world.episerver.com/Modules/Forum/Pages/Thread.aspx?id=46880&epslanguage=en). Re-posting it in CMS 6R2 now.

Is there a way to set 301 redirects in Episerver CMS 6R2?

The existing ones "Shortcut to a Link in EPiServer" & "Link to Page on another website" basically gives me a 200 (in Fiddler2) for the target url followed by a list of 304 for all static content served.

Thanks & regards,

Noel

Hello Noel

There is no built in way to handle 301's in EPiServer at the moment. If you know the URLs then the IIS Url rewrite module can handle this for you (if you are using IIS 7). I've previously blogged about using this module so you can use the same principle for explicitly redirect URLs:

Thanks for your response David.

I guess I will have to look at that then.

Thanks & regards,

Noel: You might want to take a look at the 404 module on EPiCode. I've blogged about it, see:

Hi, If I use David's method of using IIS and the Rewrite tool will this have any impact on the CMS, Images and any subdomains?

Many thanks
