EPiServer CMS 4 url rewriting

Hi.

First, I am sorry that I post about CMS 4 in this forum, but I can't find a EPiServer CMS 4 forum that I can post in.

I am currently developing in EPiServer CMS 5, but for some reasons I am trying to set up a EPiServer CMS 4 site. The site is up and running on a webserver. When I try to browse the site, I get a 404 The resource cannot be found. For some reason the url changes to http://...../no/default.aspx. I am able to login to the admin and edit mode. Here I can navigate through the pages if I use the page tree, but if i click any of the links in the menu I get the "404 The resource cannot be found Requested URL: /no/default.aspx"

I got a tip that i should  turn off the "Verify that file exists" on the aspnet_isapi.dll in IIS, but this was allready turned off.

I hope somebody can help me with this!

Thanks
Magne Ingvaldsen

Is the 404-handling set correctly in IIS? (The 404 needs to be redirected to the url /util/notfound.aspx)

And if this is an imported database, you need to check that the links are correctly. Go to admin mode, config and check the rebuild links ("Bygg webadresser på nytt" in Norwegian)

hm.. lars was a little faster than me, but I got the faq link... :-)

http://world.episerver.com/en/FAQ/Items/How-do-I-configure-IIS-to-use-the-function-Simple-address-to-the-page-in-EPiServer-4/

Also worth reading the teachnote for Friendly urls

http://world.episerver.com/en/Documentation/Items/Tech-Notes/EPiServer-CMS-4/EPiServer-462/Friendly-URL/

Also, how did you install the site? If I remember correctly its pretty easy to get a demo site up and running with the EPiServer manager 1.x version.

You could choose to not install database, and after installation overwrite/replace the template files with your own templates. - should be the fastest way to set up a new site...

Thanks for the replies!

I did not install the sites using the manager, I used IIS to set up the site.

Now the 404-handling is set correctly, and got it working when i removed the wildcard application maps in the IIS.

Thanks again!
