Trolls and Flooding

Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any plans to introduce functionality in Community to deal with forum trolls and flooding?

Anyone having to deal with it already on their exiting Net Star/EpiServer Community site?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Ray,

At the time being there is no plan for introducing such functionality in the Community platform. However it is hard to find a good general way to deal with this type of misbehave.

If this is a big problem for you, I would suggest you to use captchas when users post in the forums. Maybe introduce the possibility to ban users from the forums (or certain threads) - this could be done by utilizing the Attribute system. Another way is to disable the possibility to answer your own thread.

Thanks Tom and thanks for the tip. We are still using SC2 but looking to go to EC3 in the near future.

Its not just the forums but also the Direct Messenges, so users get targeted by trolls with abusive and downright nasty PMs. Did think about captchas but maybe only switch it on for people who are on a naughty list so not to inconvenient normal users.
