If you want to have a demo site, the easiest way is to use the EPiServer manager to insatll your site. The SDK installation is not meant to give you a full demo site. It's meant to give developers a "clean" working site.
When you use the manager installation, you will get a button for installing the demo or the public template packages.
When it comes to building your site, you should have a look at the code for the demo templates and the SDK. If you combine these, you will get an understanding of how EPiServer uses properties etc to build the web sites.
You can take a look at the "Developing solutions with EPiServer" book too. It's written for EPiServer 4, but there should be lots of stuff for you there :-) http://www.episerverworld.com/Documentation/Items/Developing-Solution-with-EPiServer/
I need some help with EPiServer 5R1 SDK Installation.
First of all, I don't understand how to get "Public Templates" installed
correctly. The picture of the nice sample site here
http://www.episerver.com/en/Start_page/Experience-EPiServer/Developer-Tools/
is the default.aspx from "Public Template" with visible WORKING functionality - but how to get this result in reality??????
Also, when I'm installing the SDK - it didn't offer me to install any
kind of test (or default?) site at all. SDK package only - no more, no less.
"OK" - I told myself, - "Let's try 'Getting started' then". Here's the second issue...
No, I got everything in the same order as it is described in the SDK Documentation!
I made the simplest test site - the master page and the content page which is the
'default.aspx'. *BUT* - what should I do to get moving from this point?
Let's say I'd like to have the "News" section inside my "Default.aspx" and,
for example, the separate "About" page. I can't understand the workflow for
this task at all.
I came across the tutorial video here
http://guider.nu/episerver/players/courseplayer/CoursePlayer.jsp?Guide=http://guider.nu/episerver/media/20070913/10/Guide.xml
and I saw that in the "Admin" mode this tutorial project have the visible *working*
structure with starting page and subpages. I'm still in dark about how to get this...
As a resume: It will be nice to have som etutorial meterials. Any kind of tutorial videos, articles, books references etc. I need the sample to strart from. The simplest site with clear description of steps. Please? Someone?
