Country or language specific image versions?

You can do this by storing image paths in the languagefiles.

This won't work with news images though, but with design images that don't change that often.

I'm not sure I follow...
If it's an image in a property then it's a matter of making a globalized version of that property...
I might be way off here, and totally missunderstaning what you are trying to achieve.

You can create language versions of the text in EPi-server, but I haven't found a possibility to create language versions of images.
If you are working with marketing you might want to show a different image in Russia and the US. E.g. I used to americanise images for Wayfinder in the US just to take away the impression of having a Swedish company as the sender.
