View Mode link not working as expected

Vote:

Our editors used to click on To View Mode link on top right of the page (Image below) to view a page before publishing it.

Since we have upgraded to the latest version of EpiServer, this link points to the published version of the page instead of the editing version.

Have you had this problem before? Do you know how I can fix this?

Hello Reza, if your users want to see a the preview of a page before publishing it they should use the preview mode on the UI. Hopefully the graphic below explains how to use it:

David, how did you create and added the image/movie to your response?

Hello Henrik

Its a tool called Screen To Gif. It allows you to record sections of your screen as an animated gif. So to create the response above I did the following:

  • Record the actions using Screen to Gif
  • Upload the gif to a publically accessible URL (I used my public Dropbox folder)
  • Insert/edit image in the rich text editor

Thanks David. We know about that option but there used to be another option which I shared the screen grab. Its link contained a key to the version number so the user could see the unpublished version of the page. Do you know what happened to that link? Has it been intentionally changed in the new version or is there a setting for it?

I'm afraid that EPiServer had not considered that behavior among the editors since it isn't an obvious way to work. Hence they might have removed it as a "fix"
