State of Workflows in CMS 9?

Hi, we're interested in implementing workflows in CMS 9, but when I visit the documentation (http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Developers-Guide/EPiServer-CMS/8/Workflows/Workflows/) for them, I see this message:
Note that from update 81 (CMS core 9.0), workflows based on Windows Workflow Foundation 3.5 are removed.
What is the current status of workflows in CMS 9? We are looking for pretty standard sequential edit -> awaiting approval -> approved -> published for the most part, but may need some support for more robust workflow down the line.
