I see I can install MS SQL server directly on the mac (via docker), and also get the .net runtime for mac, and there is a version of visual studio for mac, but I have no idea how to actually run the code assuming I can write some c# with the episerver extensions for VS. Our company has a production DXC env, but obviusly we cant touch this. The old win laptop is not really up to running MS Sql server (which I understand needs >2GB ram), and I dont want to have to carry 2 laptops everywhere, if there is any other option.
I have heard there are episerver developers using linux, but I dont know how they actually run and test their code.
You may ask your company to run BootCampt or Parallels for solving your Windows envrionment issues:

I use Parallels as my web development environment for my MacBook Pro.
Hi, I have the sam equeries. Please if anyone has the solution then share it with me.
Thank You in Advance.
Hi, our company uses EPI server, but has relatively few people who know how to develop for it. I have been asked to get up to speed with episerver and our sites, but I only have a mac. I can download visual studio community edition, but I dont know if this will help as I dont have MS SQL server or IIS etc. running. I dont have enough HD space to install parallels or bootcamp, but I could possibly get an old laptop with windows 10 to use as a dev "server" if needed, but I would need to use the mac for development.
Is this possible, or is windows the only only option for developers?
