Change URL segment when publishing page

Hi,

We need the URLSeggment unique for each page so we need to change the URLSegment if it's duplicated. I can use Ivalidate to show a message to the editor, but I want it change automatically when editor publishing the page, is there any recommended way to do it?

I think you need to hook up with the content publishing event, but I am not too sure whether how to show the error message in the editor.
