Hi Tim,
we've had the pleasure of upgrading a CMS6 site from 2005 to 2008 (by accident really) and haven't really experienced any problems in that regard. The only thing i've noticed is that the database-compatibility version will be retained to 2005 and I've never tried changing that - nor has it caused any problems leaving it as it is. But i guess it might become a problem in the future - when Microsoft creates a new feature in SQL Server which episerver starts using. - which requires a comparability-upgrade.
There should be no problem migrating from SQL 2005 to 2008 as long as you keep the compatibility version set for 2005 (as Shamrez mentions). EPiServer does nothing wacky with the databases so its a simple question of SQL 2008 backward compatibility.
We've recently migrated a large site from 2005 to 2008 R2 on 64-bit with zero issues.
Hi, are there any issues or things we should look out for when migrating our CMS 6 / Community 4 sites from SQL Server 2005 to 2008? Does anyone know of any documentation available on this?
Cheers
Tim
