Setting URL to HTTP sub domain when EPiServer is on HTTPS

We've come accross a very strange situation after moving our EPiServer site onto a HTTPS subdomain; our existing links to the HTTP portions of our main website now automatically render with HTTPS. Please see below for an example:

  • EPiServer is running on https://subdomain.example.com
  • Our main site is running on http://www.example.com
  • Any links from EPiServer to the main site are now rendering as https://, even after we go in and change them using Edit mode.

Has anyone come accross this before? Is it because EPiServer is detecting its on the same domain as the main site and forcing a HTTPS?
