All of the sudden I got this error message on some pages (episerver based searchpage and login, and one of our own pages). The error is as follows: Could not load file or assembly 'App_Web_ahirlwk7, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'App_Web_ahirlwk7, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL: 1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example: <%@ page language="C#" debug="true" %> or: 2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application: Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode. Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. Hi Tobias! The assembly 'App_Web_ahirlwk7 is (as you probably know) generated by the ASP.NET framework when it compiled some part of your site. It is almost impossible to guess whats wrong from the information you have provided. As the error message indicated the assembly could be corrupt or missing - in that it can help by cleaning you temporary folder: 1) Shut down the IIS service and close Visual Studio. 2) And then delete all files under "Temporary ASP.NET Files" in windows folder. It is also possible that you have gotten issues with assembly bindings. Read my blog post for more details: http://blog.fredrikhaglund.se/blog/2008/02/23/get-control-over-your-assembly-dependencies/ - Get control over your assembly dependencies Kind regards, Fredrik Haglund, INEXOR AB - http://blog.fredrikhaglund.se
