subdomain and episerver problem
You need an EPiServer Enterprise license for that. Then you can setup a new site with that subdomain.

Yes, you set up different domains to have different start pages in the same page tree, see http://world.episerver.com/Documentation/Items/Tech-Notes/EPiServer-CMS-6/EPiServer-CMS-60/Enterprise---Configuration/

Sorry, I misread your post. You can share web root and database but not IIS application. Within the same application you can only map language branches to different domains, not different start pages.

you could set homepage as the Simple address for this page
or you could make path a redirect in the IIS
