I belive that this scenario you describe has been discussed in the comments of that same post. Seems to be a regular expression that needs to be updated to include non English characters. Something in the line of replacing \w with \p{Ll}.

Hi,
We need to create a friendly url for the forum pages. Have tried to do as in Tom Stenius blogpost about friendly url http://blog.tomstenius.com/2010/03/friendly-urls-in-relate-part-2.html . The problem is that we need this to work also with other characters than English ones. Like for example with ö ä å ø æ å.
Any suggestion how to solve this?
