Currently it is not possible to encrypt the passwords, however, this is going to change. In the forthcoming 4.40 release we have started to prepare the database for future security improvements and encrypted passwords have a very high priority in our plans. Encrypted passwords will not make it into 4.40, but most certainly in the next major version after that.
