Output cache and session variables customizing output

We have a form that sets some session-variables that customizes the content of every page. I made the assumption that cache useability is determined by investigation of the HTTP request, and thereby output cache is not to think of, or even dangerous. But since this application will get very high traffic loads; Is there a way that output cache can vary by a value of one or more session variables?
