Read the stack trace, I think maybe something wrong with the network log-on account using for SQL server (SQLExpress) service. Try this: Select SQL Server (SQLExpress) service Properties >> Log On tab >> Set Log on as = Local System account (instead of Network service) then restart the service.

I have EPiServer 5,6 and 7.1 on the same machine installed with windows authentication in deployment center withouot any problem.

I changed the log on user without success.

I can install a 7.0 site with no problems.

Hey Per, I ran into the same problem.  I uninstalled and then re-installed the 7.5 with administrative rights <- not sure if it mattered but it seem to have fixed my issue, either the reinstall or doing it with admin rights.  Worth a shot.

I still cannot do a site upgrade from 7.1 up to 7.5 though.  It errors on me every time, i have tried countless times so i will keep plugging away and see what i manage to come up with.

Joshua: What is the error you are getting when upgrading?

That error can occour if you install on a SQL 2005 instance. EPiServer 7.5 requires SQL 2008 or later.

Hey Linus, I should have clarified, it wasn't so much the upgrade, that worked, but bringing up the site is what bombed out.  I found the issue(s) and seems to be add on modules from episerver (episerver google analytics and such) do not get upgraded.  I have removed the module from the Modules vpp.  I also found structure map was wrong or it could be our config transforms which i have updated to your version which still loaded the old structure map.  Not sure what all gets updated during the upgrade but seems both sites i tried had a structure map issue.  Just some food for thought.

Hello Joshua,

Did you run "Upgrade/Disable Add-ons after Product Upgrade" from the Deployment Center (step #13 in the upgrading documentation)? This will upgrade all system add-ons and disabled all non-system add-ons on the upgraded site. The disabled non-system add-ons can be upgraded and enabled later from the add-ons administration web interface, when the site will be up and running.

Can you ensure (e.g. by Sql Configruation Manager) that you do not have a SQL 2005 also running. Perhaps there is e.g. a SQL Express 2005 instance running side by side.

If you open up Deployment Center and selects "Install site and SQL Server database", in the step for database which database instance do you see and is that a SQL 2008 instance?
